SENSING JERUSALEM: Workshops Complete!

We have reached an exciting milestone – the completion of our first five workshops, and already the impact is clear.

Fourteen young Palestinians are becoming curators of Jerusalem’s history by learning digital tools for art making and cultural heritage documentation. One of them stated, with defiance and hope,

“I am so excited to be making history in Jerusalem.”

Their work demonstrates that, in the face of daily threats to Palestinian heritage in Jerusalem, digital documentation is a powerful new line of defense.

We are deeply grateful to all our wonderful participants for their commitment and creativity throughout the workshop series.

The journey continues with our next phase: exhibiting their work at the Yabous Cultural Centre and online.

Ongoing Projects

These are some of the long-term projects we are actively engaged in.

LIVING JERUSALEM

LIVING JERUSALEM will be experienced as an immersive installation within a curated exhibition that will travel globally. Participants will engage with Jerusalem’s histories and learn about threats to its vital and irreplaceable cultural heritage.

The Virtual Illés Initiative on STEAM

The Virtual Illés Initiative is a pioneering, transdisciplinary digital humanities project that aims to compile these fascinating records and facilitate universal access to these uncovered facets of the city.

SENSING JERUSALEM: Student Workshops

Our team, along with outside experts in digital humanities, will offer digital training sessions for selected Palestinian students at the Yabous Cultural Centre in Jerusalem.

Mughrabi Quarter Digital Archive

The Mughrabi Quarter of Jerusalem was wiped off the face of the map by the State of Israel in 1967, but it remains intact – albeit in miniature – as part of the Illés Relief of Jerusalem (1873).

ARCH serves as guide and guardian of vulnerable cultural heritage in Jerusalem.
